VACCINE POLICY
Waggoner Pediatrics Vaccine Policy
Purpose:
The goal of this Vaccine Policy is to promote the health and well-being of our pediatric patients through the administration of recommended vaccines. At Waggoner Pediatrics, we strongly support vaccination as a safe and effective way to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Scope:
This policy applies to all patients and families of Waggoner Pediatrics, as well as our staff involved in administering vaccines.
Policy Statement:
Waggoner Pediatrics follows the immunization schedule recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). We believe that vaccination is essential to maintaining the health of our community and preventing the spread of preventable diseases.
Vaccine Administration:
Vaccines will be offered to children according to the age-appropriate schedule.
Vaccines will be administered by trained healthcare professionals at the time of regular check-ups or during scheduled vaccine appointments.
Vaccines will be provided in a manner that minimizes discomfort and ensures the safety of our patients.
Vaccine Exceptions:
We understand that there are situations where parents or guardians may have concerns or objections to vaccination. However, we encourage open dialogue between families and our healthcare team to ensure informed decision-making.
Medical Exemptions: If a child has a medical condition that contraindicates vaccination (e.g., severe allergic reactions to vaccine components), a medical exemption may be granted by a licensed healthcare provider.
Religious or Philosophical Exemptions: Waggoner Pediatrics does not typically accommodate non-medical exemptions, as we believe the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risks. Parents or guardians with concerns are encouraged to discuss alternative options with our healthcare team.
Vaccine Safety:
All vaccines administered at Waggoner Pediatrics are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are administered following the highest safety standards.
Vaccine information statements (VIS) will be provided to parents or guardians prior to vaccination to inform them of potential risks and benefits.
Parents are encouraged to ask questions regarding the vaccines and any potential side effects.
Record-Keeping:
Waggoner Pediatrics maintains an up-to-date immunization record for all patients.
Vaccine records will be provided to families upon request, or when transferring care to another provider.
Immunization reminders and recall notices will be sent as needed to ensure patients stay on track with their immunization schedule.
Communication:
We will educate parents and guardians about the importance of vaccination through various resources, including brochures, our website, and in-person discussions with our healthcare providers.
We will work with parents to address any concerns they may have regarding vaccination to ensure that their child receives the appropriate vaccines.
Enforcement:
Parents or guardians who refuse vaccinations for their children may be asked to find care elsewhere, as unvaccinated children can pose a risk to the health of others, particularly those who are medically unable to be vaccinated.
Waggoner Pediatrics reserves the right to refuse services to patients who do not comply with vaccination guidelines.
Review:
This policy will be reviewed annually or as needed to ensure compliance with the latest public health recommendations and regulations.
