Dr. Waggoner’s Philisophy

In this day and age, raising children is a very difficult thing to do. Society is changing at a fast pace and it is hard to know exactly where to turn when questions or problems arise. Waggoner Pediatrics is always there to help you navigate these obstacles. We are always glad to sit down and talk with you about any issue, to either help you solve the problem or to refer you in the right direction to an excellent, specialized professional who can help you with a specific problem or diagnosis.

In particular, we see more young children & teenagers with anxiety and depression. These issues can be very debilitating and it is important to address them as early as they arise. We are always happy to help facilitate these problems by setting up counseling and following with the patient to see if any other treatments are needed.

Illness is frequent, especially in the winter months. We believe that the best care comes from seeing your pediatrician when the kids are sick. Pediatricians & pediatric nurse practitioners are specially trained to see the sickest of children and this makes it easier to recognize when treatments are necessary, or when we need to initially give supportive care. We then make sure the illness resolves without the need for antibiotics. For example, a walk-in clinic may prescribe medicines just because people are there or because they are not 100% sure about the diagnoses.

We strongly believe in prescribing medicine only when it’s needed and explaining to our families why when medicines are not needed. We strive to give our patients as much information as possible about the issues they are experiencing and educating them about what they should look out for.

Dr. Waggoner wants to help you any time of the day or night to figure out exactly what you need to do for your children. When you call our office number after hours, the Methodist answering service will page Dr. Waggoner, and he will return your call. In the age of the night-time phone nurse or tele-medicine, it is nice to know that you can talk with your pediatrician at night free of charge and have the peace of mind to know that these are the people that know your family best.
